Testimony has a very special form as a film, presenting quite a challenge for the cinematographer. We used different media - both historical, documentary footage and retrospective, dramatised materials. We could only guess and imagine the course and "look” of certain events related by the Cardinal when trying to reconstruct them in the film. This is the first time that this form, well-established in television, is making an appearance in the cinema. We filmed mainly on location in the Vatican and Cracow. But the most emotional moments were those when we wanted to show events filmed in places connected with the Pope's biography. So first of all in Wadowice, his birthplace, and the scenery of the Pope's childhood years. Filming worked out very smoothly and was well-prepared. The atmosphere was very pleasant - it was a very deep experience for all of us. We also enjoyed an incredible aura - literally. We were trying to film under good weather conditions, in good light. Even if the day started with a rainstorm or a blizzard, once we had set up the equipment, the sky would open up and the sun would come out from behind the clouds. We always enjoyed good weather, even in places when at that time of the year you wouldn't normally see the sun. Once, we were filming landscapes in the mountains to show the role of the Tatra mountains in the Pope's life and as it was quite late, it was getting dark. And another surprise: suddenly, we saw a huge, beautiful rainbow breaking through the grey sky Both the crew and the people who helped us in our work were amazed by this miraculous support of nature.
