Born in 1962. Catholic priest, prelate, doctor of theology. He graduated from the Higher Theological Seminary and the Papal Theological Academy in Cracow, and also from the Gregorian University in Rome.

Since 1996 he has worked in the Polish section of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, and as of 2001 has been the Secretariat's head. He is also a rector of St. Stanislaw BM Church and Hospice in Rome and oversees the pastoral care for Polish emigrants in the Roman Diocese.

He has written the following books: Pozwólcie dzieciom przyjść do mnie (1991); Lo Spirito Santo nei sacramenti dell'iniziazione cristiana secondo i libri liturgici della riforma dopo il Concilio Vaticano II (1995); W świetle Ewangelii (1999-2000) and numerous articles in scientific and popular magazines. He has been the editor of the works of Pope John Paul II: Gift and Mystery (1996); Rise, Let Us Be on Our Way (1994); Roman Triptych (2003); and Memory and Identify (2005). At present, Rev. Ptasznik is the editor-in-chief of The Collected Works of John Paul II. He has been a consultant for the following films: Karol - A Man Who Became Pope (2005); Karol - The Pope, The Man (2006); and John Paul II (2006).
