Born in 1942, Michael York is a British actor famous for a vast and diverse range of roles.

He started his career on stage as a Shakespearian actor, but it was the role of Jolyon in the BBC-produced mini-series The Forsyte Saga (1967) that earned him popularity in Great Britain. He is better known to Polish audiences as D'Artagnan in Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers (1973) and for other notable roles in movies such as: Bob Fosse's Cabaret (1972), Sidney Lumet's Murder on the Orient Express (1974), Franco Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth (1977), and Robert Markowitz's Phantom of the Opera (1983).

The role of narrator in Testimony is not the first Polish involvement in York's acting career. In 1984 he played in Jerzy Skolimowski's film Success is the best revenge.
