Testimony is a film about the life of Pope John Paul II. It is in the form of a narrative of Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, the Pope's long-time secretary and friend, closest witness to the most important events of the Great Pontificate. Testimony first appeared in 2007 as a book, a transcript of conversations with Cardinal Dziwisz conducted by Italian journalist and Vatican expert Gian Franco Sviderocoschi. Translated into over a dozen languages, more than a million copies were printed in Poland. Now this amazing story hits the screens, expanding on the book version with many new facts, including from Karol Wojtyła's childhood and youth. It also depicts previously unknown poignant moments from the Pope's private life and offers new interpretations.

The film uses documentary materials and dramatized reconstructions of events.

Both these dimensions are brought together by the role of the narrator, skilfully portrayed by celebrated actor Michael York (Cabaret and Jesus of Nazareth)
